Washington Island is one of my favorite places to paint! The beauty of the island from Lake Michigan, to lavender fields, to rusty farm equipment, and old buildings, makes this a wonderful appetite for your senses. Color is a vibration of light: it affects not only our eyes, but our hearts. If we understand how color works and how our emotions respond to color, we’ll take giant steps toward creating paintings that are alive with personality as well as light. Our brain responds to shapes. Our brain finishes lines that are not really there. Using abstract shapes to create realistic objects is creative and interesting. This class will address both shapes and color and you will have plenty of painting time. The idea is to capture the beauty of the island in a whole new way.
